FIBA Thinking To End Ban on Sikh Turbans


FIBA (International Basketball Federation) may soon end a ban on Sikh Turbans as well as on Muslims girls hijabs.

In 2014 FIBA Banned Sikh players who wore a turban in International Basketball federation Asian cup tournament that was held in China. Two of Sikh players was asked to remove the turban before entering the Basketball court in 2014 by Chinese authorities. Various Sikh federations and Organizations protest about this discriminatory rule of FIBA and called on the FIBA to lift its ban from turbans. Many USA organizations also protest on this ban and signed a letter about this unfair ban.

Finally, after and two-year long fight, Sikh athletes gets justice and FIBA moving towards to end their policy on head gears.
